Declan Sullivan Tweets About Dangerous Conditions Before Falling to His Death
Notre Dame Student Dies in Camera Tower Collapse

Declan Sullivan, a Notre Dame student, fell to his death while videotaping the football team from a hydraulic tower. Less than an hour before his death, Sullivan tweeted about the dangerous conditions caused by strong gusts of wind.

Declan tweeted:

“Gust of wind up to 60mph well today will be fun at work… I guess I’ve lived long enough :-/.”

Declan’s second tweet read:

“Holy fuck holy fuck this is terrifying.”

The second tweet was sent at 4:06 pm. The camera tower that Declan Sullivan was in at Notre Dame collapsed at 4:50 pm.

The Huffington Post reports that winds were blowing at more than 50 mph while Declan was filming practice. A day earlier, a tornado warning had been issued across much of the mid-west, and Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly decided to hold his first ever indoor practice. But yesterday, under equally windy conditions, the team practiced outside.

Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly said:

“Declan Sullivan brightened the days of all who had the privilege to work with him, and the Notre Dame football family will dearly miss him.”

Declan was just 20-years-old.
