“My Trunk” involved in Casey Anthony Case
Bubba Clem, also known as Bubba the Love Sponge, a local shock-jock for a nationally syndicated radio talk show located in Tampa, Florida is well known for his strong opinions and entertaining comments about most current events. However, yesterday, his show became part of the story when a potential juror, who admitted to watching a song parody created by one of Bubba’s own, about the Caylee Anthony murder, was still being considered as a possible juror for the case.
Casey Anthony, 25, is accused of murdering her daughter, Caylee, a toddler who disappeared in October 2008. Her body was found 5 months later not too far from her grandparents home.
Law enforcement officials and prosecutors believe that Casey Anthony kept her daughter’s lifeless body in the trunk of her car for more than a few days. It is this gruesome fact that became the basis for “My Trunk”, a parody of the Black Eyed Pea’s “My Humps” created by co-host and producer of the Bubba the Love Sponge show, Manson (Mike Waters) who has become famous as one of the best parody creators in radio today.
According to a press release from the show, “juror 3308 said he watched the video, which is now going viral. He said he found it funny, though derogatory. He said he didn’t think it was true.”
Jury selection was moved from Orlando, where the alleged crime took place, to Clearwater, in Pinellas county, because of intense pre-trial publicity.
The search for potential jurors was cut short today when Judge Belvin Perry postponed proceedings until 8:30 am Thursday. No explanation was given for the delay.
On Bubba’s early morning radio show, broadcast locally on WHPT, 102.5, Bubba was very clear about the shows involvement and mentioned that a letter had been written to the Judge, explaining their position and questioning the validity of using this potential juror.
Though, famous for his “on-air” antics, Bubba also runs a non-profit charitable fund for the widows of fallen officers here in the Tampa area. Calling on the members of “Bubba’s Army”, his name for his growing number of devoted fans, he has raised substantial amounts, with every penny going to the widows and survivors.
